Wolff, Frederick Phillip “Fritz”- age 76, of Goodrich died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 27, 1939 in Menominee, Michigan, to George and Elizabeth Wolff. He graduated from Menominee high school in 1957. He then attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico on a football scholarship, where he won a National Jr. College Championship in 1958. He completed his undergraduate education at Western Michigan University, graduating in 1963, with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. He later earned a Master’s degree in education from Michigan State University. In the fall of 1963, Fritz began teaching and coaching football at Goodrich. He would teach for 42 years at Goodrich High School, retiring in 2005. Fritz coached football at Goodrich for 47 years, as well as coaching 3 years at Grand Blanc, and 1 year at Swartz Creek. In 1994 he was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame. Fritz was a longstanding member of the Goodrich United Methodist Church. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, golfing, and reading historical literature. Fritz is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynda; 3 children, Michelle (Dan) Hughes, Jeffrey Wolff, and Michael (Erin) Wolff; 4 grandchildren, Jordan and Kaitlyn Hughes, and Dawson and Brayden Wolff; 2 brothers, William and Kenneth (Dianna) Wolff. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Wolff, and his nephew Kenneth Robert Wolff Jr. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Coach Wolff Memorial Scholarship Fund. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015 12-4 pm and 6-9 pm at Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8072 State Rd. (M-15), Goodrich. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Goodrich United Methodist Church, with visitation from 10am until the time of the service. Reverend Won Kim will be officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Fritz was an incredibly loving husband, father, and grandfather as well as a great influence on countless students and athletes.
