Booters drop two

The Wildcat booters brought their overall record to 5-2-3 after two tough losses last week.
Oxford started their week off with a 5-1 loss to Bloomfield Hills.
The Blackhawk’s scored within the first minute of the game and knocked two more in within 10 minutes, making for three unanswered goals in the first half.
‘We couldn’t find our rhythm and our defense was too flat,? explained Head Coach John Thaler. ‘We were off that night and Bloomfield were unstoppable.?
The second half didn’t offer a whole lot of promise as Bloomfield did a repeat by scoring with in the first minute followed by another goal 10 minutes later.
But it wasn’t all bad. Oxford was able to earn a goal when senior captain Greg Knox launched a long throw in to co-captain Devan deJong, who headed the ball into the back of the net.
Hoping to turn their week around, Oxford faced off against old Flint Metro League foe, Fenton, for a non-league contest, which ended in a 2-1 loss.
Oxford scored in the first half.
Senior captain Greg Knox fed a great pass to junior Jonathan Carrera who knocked the ball home to keep the lead at 1-0 until the last 10 minutes
‘It was a very physical game and we lost two starters to injury in the first half,? Thaler said. ‘We weathered the storm for almost 90 percent of the game.?
Unfortunately, the Wildcats weren’t able to keep their momentum going in the second half, as Fenton slipped past the defense to tie up the game and then repeated an almost identical play with two minutes left on the clock to close the game out, according to Thaler.
The Wildcats will travel down M-24 on Thursday to take on their archrivals the Lake Orion Dragons.
The game will begin at 7 p.m. at Lake Orion High School.
