Rain and high winds prevented fire trucks and police cars from visiting Kingsbury Country Day School last week.
But that didn’t dampen students? spirits as they pressed on with plans to show their appreciation to the first-responders who protect them and their families.
Students at the K-8 charter school in Addison Township made cards and wrote letters expressing their heartfelt gratitude to police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel for the work they do.
The school collected boxes full of stuffed animals, which will be used by first-responders to comfort traumatized children. These simple plush toys help ease the pain and fear kids experience when dealing with crime, accidents, fires and loss.
Kingsbury students also donated a large amount of snacks, games, books and puzzles for the first-responders to enjoy during their downtime.
