Lake Orion’s girls? swimming and diving team places in the top 10 for second year in a row

The Lake Orion girls? swimming and diving team are among the state’s top 10 again this year after solid performances last weekend in the state championships.
The performances earned several all-state honors.
The lady Dragons competed in the MHSAA Division 1 Swimming and Diving State Championships.
The Dragon’s state qualifying team consisted of senior captains Kirstyn Abbasse and Nicole Horvath, juniors Sarah Hennings, Zoe Quinn and Amanda Keller, sophomore Eliana Ritt and freshmen Claire Abbasse and Emily Diener.
The Dragons had many outstanding swims led by captain Kirstyn Abbasse who finished 14th in the 200 and 100 freestyle events making her the first swimmer or diver since the team started in 1998 to place in the top 16 all four years in individual events.
Junior Sarah Hennings received all-state recognition by finishing 3rd in the 100 Butterfly.
Freshman Claire Abbasse finished 2nd in the 50 Freestyle and 3rd in the 100 Freestyle giving her individual all-state recognition as well.
The all-state relay team of Claire Abbasse, Zoe Quinn, Eliana Ritt and Kirstyn Abbasse finshed 7th overall, setting a new school record in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:38.01.
The Dragons finished the meet with a strong performance in the 400 Freestyle Relay with the team of Claire Abbasse, Zoe Quinn, Sarah Hennings and Kirstyn Abbasse finishing 9th overall with a time of 3:33.01.
The team finished 9th overall with 97 points making this the third straight year finishing in the top ten of the state meet.
