The lady Dragon basketball team is in the hunt for the OAA White Division title and were scheduled to battle North Farmington this week to see which team can claim the crown.
Last week, the Orion girls beat West Bloomfield, 60-50, and then edged Troy, 52-47.
They were scheduled to play North Farmington at the Raiders? home on Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner will be in the driver’s seat for the league title.
In the West Bloomfield game, freshman Maddie Novak was on fire, scoring 15 of the Dragon’s 16 first-half points. She finished with 35 points and seven rebounds. Terra Nuss scored 13 points and Evelyn Wischmeyer netted 11.
The Dragons survived a late rally to edge Troy, 52-47.
Novak again led the charge with 22 points. Lauren Thorne added 12 and Wischmeyer had a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds along with six blocks.
The two wins improved the team’s record to 11-6 overall and 5-3 in the White Division.
Another victory on Thursday would put the Dragons atop the standings.
