High school student orators to compete in VFW contest

Students can potentially win up to $25,000 by entering the VFW Post 582 Voice of Democracy contest.
Area high school students have the opportunity to compete in the 57th annual audio essay competition by writing, then recording a three to five-minute audio essay expressing their interpretation of this year’s patriotic theme, “My Commitment to America’s Future.”
High school students first compete at the local post level, and may advance to district, then state and national competitions to win scholarship funds, a Washington, D.C. trip, and dozens of other awards.
Entry deadline is Nov. 1, 2003. To find out more, call Joyce Atkin at (248) 627-4384 or send a letter to VFW Post 582, 144 Ball St., Ortonville, Mich., 48462.
