Lakeview homeowner charged with trespassing

Village police officers respond to a lot of calls regarding lakefront land disputes, especially ones that involve neighbors stepping on to another’s property. Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh hopes to slow that time consuming policing process by using its trespassing law.
Margaret Parr, 51, of Lakeview was arraigned on Sept. 23 in Rochester’s 3rd/2nd District Court for trespassing. She was released on a personal bond pending her trial. If found guilty she could receive 30 days in jail and/or $50 fine.
“Once again, the entire case revolves around a property line dispute. People need to slow down and move with legal authority (in civil court).
“Ramifications are clear; stay off other people’s property,” Narsh said. “Don’t let property line disputes turn into a criminal act. People can still have their day in court. The fact that we’re here is because of a dispute that should have been resolved in other ways.”
A neighbor filed a complaint against Parr on Aug. 9, 2003. Narsh said she was observed on the other’s property on Aug. 8 and an independent witness verified that information.
Parr was allegedly warned not to enter the property by the homeowner.
