To the editor:
I guess I’m a new kid on the block. I’ve lived off Allen Road for 11 years and have watched the fields and hundreds of acres of vacant land being sold to new neighbors whom we’ve welcomed into our great and quiet residential hood. Apparently there is a big aesthetic stink amongst all the newcomers and us older residents, accepting the huge new Sprint tower that will loom over our precious residential neighborhood that we’ve invested our time and dollars in.
About 8 years ago I watched a herd of 24 deer, the 15 point male leading his harem and young to the pond in front of our home, drinking and being alert to predators. As homes began to be built we have seen the deer population diminish to 3-5 traveling together, and accepting their change in habitat as we have accepted our esthetic change as new neighbors became our friends.
It has become completely evident over the past few months the determination of these new neighbors to stop this new Sprint communication tower not too far from all of our homes, their land being purchased from the same person who lured them into this area, and who will lease land in their backyards to Sprint for a few dollars more.
I can’t wait to drive by the corners of Seymour Lake Road and M-15 and look at the enormous tower looming over the centuries old hundreds of acres of wetlands, bird sanctuary and natural undisturbed nature preserve.
Unlike Clint Eastwood, no one will be riding in with a few sticks of dynamite to remove what doesn’t belong in this great area. Guess it’s time to ask peaceably, do you need a few dollars more?
