Brandon Twp.-Two teenagers, one 15 and the other 17, were arrested for breaking into vehicles after being found counting their loot while sitting on a mobile home park tennis court.

According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office report, Brandon deputies responded at 5:21 a.m., June 12 to the mobile home park after a witness saw suspicious persons walking around vehicles. One of the deputies responded directly to the 4300 block of Hazel to speak with the complainant, while the other deputy began searching the mobile home park and observed two white males matching the description of the subjects, sitting on the tennis court, backs to the fence, counting money.

The deputy drove his vehicle toward them and exited the patrol car, observing several items on the ground, including loose money, wallets, car chargers, papers, packs of cigarettes, lighters, pens and other items you would find in a car. The deputy instructed the males to lay face down on the tennis court and they continued to sit there. He told them again

to lay down and they both attempted to stand up.

The deputy grabbed both and rolled them on to their stomachs and handcuffed one of the suspect’s hands to the chainlink fence while he handcuffed the other suspect. Two more deputies arrived on scene and assisted in handcuffing the other suspect. Among the items found in their possession was paperwork that identified the victims, drug paraphernalia, suspected marijuana, and prescription pills.

While being transported to the substation, one of the suspects, 15, asked what he was arrested for and when told “breaking into cars,” the suspect said it was stupid and he didn’t want to go back to Children’s Village.

Both are charged with larceny from an auto. The 17-year-old suspect was lodged at Oakland County Jail.
