Township allocates $39,817 in CDBG funds

The Oxford Township Board of Trustees last week voted to allocate its 2004 Community Development Block Grant funds totalling $39,817 in the following manner:
• $25,000 – To continue the minor home repair program;
• $10,817 – To continue providing home safety devices for Oxford senior citizens such as tub grab bars, raised toilet seats, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and first-aid kits. To help perform chore services such as heavy duty cleaning, raking, hedge trimming, snow removal, lawn mowing, and minor home repairs. To help provide outreach services for seniors and disabled residents in Oxford;
• $4,000 – To HAVEN to provide emergency shelter, crisis lines, advocacy, counseling programs and other support services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
CDBG funds are federal monies that can only be used to help low-to-moderate income residents, senior citizens and the disabled.
