On Thursday, September 10th, 2020, Brenda (Anderson) Thompson Pyle passed away at the age of 77, after succumbing to complications from Parkinson’s Disease.
Brenda was born on March 25, 1943 in Winchester, IN to Dale R. and Majorie (Bailey) Anderson. Brenda grew up on the family farm, graduating from Desoto High in 1961. After graduating, Brenda attended Elkhart University. During this time she met lifelong friend Carol Broecker from Ortonville, MI. While visiting Carol, Brenda met her future
husband, Roy M. (Marty) Pyle. They were married on June 5th, 1965. Together they raised two sons, Jon and Tom.
While raising her family, Brenda worked as a secretary at Oakland University in Rochester, MI and for the law firm of Fisher and Wallace in Ortonville. Brenda loved sewing, quilting, crocheting, and knitting and could always be found at her machine or with a crochet hook in hand. She was always a stalwart attendant at her sons’ athletic events from T-Ball and Little League through middle school and high school football.
Brenda was always willing to lend a hand, helping out by keeping the scorebook during baseball games and fundraising with the Brandon Ball Boosters to help keep athletic programs going during the economic crunch of the 80s.
Brenda married Lee Thompson, also of Ortonville, in 1983 adding stepchildren Scott (Pam) and Brooke to the family. When Lee retired from General Motors they moved to Port Austin, MI where they lived for many years. In retirement Brenda continued to
enjoy quilting and spending time with her grandchildren.
In 2015, Brenda moved back to the Muncie, IN area to be near her sister Carol, cousin Judith Miller, sister-in-law Brenda Gayle Anderson and other family members and friends.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Dale, stepmother Ann (Miller), mother Marjorie, stepfather Oscar Shook, and brother Max. She is survived by her sons, Jon (Kristen) of Los Alamos, NM and Tom (Kathy) of Lincoln, MI; and grandchildren Ashley, Mabel, Josie, Kristy, Misty, and Jeffrey; sisters Carol, Janie, Berta and brothers,Joe and Randy.
