The Optimist Club of Oxford/Lake Orion will be conducting a Tri-Star Basketball Competition on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at 9 a.m., in Oxford Elementary School. All children ages 8-13 in the Oxford/Lake Orion area are welcome.
Tri-Star Basketball is an individual skill competition that promotes self-confidence and physical fitness. Because this program does not involve physical contact or advanced skills, it is an ideal activity for every child. Similar to a punt-pass-kick contest, youth compete by age group in basketball skills including dribbling, passing and shooting.
“We are pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to local youth again this year,” said Ken Sharp, club president. “We will award prizes and free Pistons tickets. There is no cost to the children!”
Children who want to participate should bring their gym shoes and a basketball (optional). Registration takes place at 9 a.m. the day of competition.
