Ortonville— From 1-3:30 p.m., beginning on June 20, the Brandon Township Public Library, 304 South St., Ortonville, will host weekly sessions of PATH (Personal Action Toward Health).
The six-week workshop runs Tuesdays June 20-Aug. 1, with no class on July 4. PATH is designed to provide skills and tools to help people living with a chronic condition such as arthritis, asthma, emphysema, hypertension, heart disease or depression live a healthier life, as well as providing these skills and tools to support persons for those with chronic conditions.
“It’s very important that you self-manage,” said Yang Yang, one of the instructors of the program. She has been instructing the program for seven years.
The program tackles topics such as self-management and chronic health conditions, physical activity and exercise, preventing falls, making decisions, pain and fatigue management, better breathing, healthy eating, dealing with depression and much more.
Participating in the program will increase connection to others, and can decrease symptoms, improve communication with physicians, give participants a greater sense of control over their health, increase physical activity and improve their general health.
