Brandon Twp. — Brandon Township and the Village of Ortonville are joining forces to prepare a recreation master plan.
“For us, the main reason to do it is to find what the community is interested in,” said Brandon parks and recreation director John Hug. “But if you don’t do a master plan, you can’t apply for grants. So it allows Ortonville and Brandon to apply for grants.”
There is a survey out for residents to give input regarding parks and recreation opportunities for the community.
“We want to get interest on what people are actively using or what they would like to see,” said Hug. “There might be things that we’re not thinking of, so if we don’t have a plan in there, it makes it hard to apply for certain grants.”
The master plan begins in 2025, and will run through 2029. The survey is open until 5 p.m. on June 21 at survey.sogolytics.com/r/BrOrtRecPlan. Hard copies can be picked up at the Brandon Township offices, 395 Mill St., or the Ortonville village offices, 476 Mill St. Paper copies can be returned to those offices as well.
“This is the best way to share how you use parks and have your voice heard,” said village manager Ryan Madis.
