A necessary evil

Drivers beware! A ‘Do Not Block the Driveway? sign has been placed at the Flint Street entrance to National City Bank in the Village of Lake Orion.
For the next 30 days village police officers will be warning drivers that it is now illegal to block the bank’s driveway. After that tickets will be issued for a moving violation.
According to LO Police Chief Jerry Narsh, the reason the sign has been installed is due to the growth of congestion at the M-24/Flint Street intersection.
Often during rush hours, vehicles on eastbound Flint Street who need to turn left into the bank can’t do so because the driveway is blocked by traffic lined up to get onto M-24.
‘Cars on East Flint start stacking up all the way to M-24 creating a road hazard,? Narsh said.
‘There’s no simple solution to this problem. Motorists (on Flint Street) need to pay attention to where their vehicle will end up in order to avoid blocking the driveway.?
