Basketball Wolves knock off Rochester

There was a simple reason for Clarkston’s basketball victory over Rochester Friday night.
Chris Johnston.
Rochester didn’t have Chris on their roster and Clarkston did.
He scored 24 and Clarkston won by 17, 64 to 47. But he also rebounded and played effective defense.
There were other reasons for Clarkston’s victory. For example, Brad Goodman chipped in with 11 points and Ryan Kaltz came up with ten. The Wolves led at the end of the first quarter, 16-12, and outscored the Falcons in the second and third quarter, allowing them to outscore the Clarkston bench in the fourth quarter, 16-15.
Dan Fife, Clarkston basketball coach, said ‘I don’t know what to think of this year’s team. We’ve got a lot of veterans on the club, yet we lack leadership and spirit.
‘I hope to see some signs that we are going to play consistently better in the next week or two. It almost seems the players are waiting for me to strengthen their confidence. Compared to the early years of my coaching career, these players have many more distractions and separate agendas.?
Nevertheless, the Associated Press currently ranks the Wolves tenth in Class A OAA ratings.
This week, Clarkston plays at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s on Tuesday night and at Pontiac Northern on Friday night. Perhaps we will find out, if we’re lucky, which agenda will govern their play.
