The Monday, June 9 school election will include:
? Two four-year seats on the Clarkston Community Schools Board of Education,
? a proposal to extend school debt by borrowing an additional $83.7 million for capital improvement needs, and
? a proposal to restore the full 18-mill ‘non-homestead? property tax for local school operations.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Precinct locations and formal wording of the ballot proposals may be found in the Public Notice on page 7B.
Eight candidates are competing to fill seats currently filled by Kurt Shanks and Janet Thomas, both of whom chose not to run for reelection.
The Clarkston News asked all candidates to complete a questionnaire with uniform questions concerning their background, qualifications and positions on issues.
