On Tuesday, Michigan State Police reported a suspect is in custody for a bomb threat made to Genesee County Schools at 11:50 a.m. on Nov. 4.
The call, received by the Saginaw County 9-1-1 dispatch center, advised that five bombs had been placed in unnamed schools.The calls came from the Birch Run area.
MSP detectives are preparing a warrant request for Adam White, 32, of Burton, for one count of making a terrorist threat, a 20-year felony.
White is currently being held on a $50,000 bond in the Genesee County Jail for one count of bank robbery.
On Nov. 4, White allegedly made the bomb threat phone calls received by 9-1-1 dispatch centers, prior to robbing the Bank of America located on Court Street in Burton.
MSP believe the calls were made to create a distraction for police prior to the bank robbery. The Michigan State Police released a copy of the 9-1-1 call to the media, along with photographs of the robbery suspect. The information produced several tips that were called into the Burton Police Department.
An arrest warrant was obtained for the robbery.
Schools around the county took steps including searching buildings, cancelling activities and locking down campuses after the threat was called in to Saginaw County 9-1-1 just before noon.
John Fazer, Goodrich Schools superintendent, said the district was contacted by the GISD at about 1:10 p.m. on Friday and the school went on soft lockdown.
Classes were dismissed at 2:20 p.m.
