After being unsure of where to continue his college wrestling career, 2013 graduate Rocco Borg made his decision a couple weeks ago and signed an agreement with Eastern Michigan University.
‘I visited Northern (Michigan University) first and then Eastern. They’re like two completely different schools,? Borg said. ‘I kind of liked the college lifestyle more at Eastern and they’re a good wrestling team, so I made my decision to go there.?
He also noted that he knows a lot of the guys on the team through wrestling and the coach is cool.
‘I am just looking forward to being a college wrestler. It’s harder and expectations are a lot higher,? Borg said. ‘I’m looking forward to the challenge and hopefully I can improve myself.?
Borg will head to Eastern on Aug. 21 about a week before school starts to get some wrestling time in.
‘I can’t wait to start college and experience college life,? he said.
Wrestling for the Wildcats, Borg racked up 189 wins and only suffered 30 defeats.
His senior year record was very impressive at 51-3.
Borg lettered in wrestling four times and took third place in the state’s 2013 individual finals in the 145-pound weight class.
