Boys swim team off to a 3-0 start

According to Oxford Boys? Varsity Swim Head Coach Jackie Rank, the goal this year for the Wildcat swimmers is to win the league in the blue division, represent well at the Oakland County meet and send athletes to the state meet.
After a 102-83 win over Royal Oak last week, obtaining those goals got a little bit closer as the boys improved their record to 3-0.
Out of the 27-man roster, Ranks said there are 18 returning swimmers this year.
‘These swimmers bring experience, motivation, and a great work ethic that I hope will rub off on some of the other returning athletes and the newcomers,? Rank said. ‘Most notably senior captains Jake Tasch (distance freestyler) and Sean Terry (sprint freestyle and butterflyer), as well as junior captain Jonah Grove (breaststroker and IM’er), senior Armando Vega (all-around swimmer), juniors Travis Butler (all-around swimmer), Lucas Sereno (all-around swimmer), and Trenton Sabo (sprint freestyler) and sophomore Garrett Warren (all-around swimmer).?
Rank noted that she’s happy to have nine new athletes on the team this year.
‘It’s always nice to have fresh talent on the team,? she added. ‘I’m most excited about sophomore diver Mitchell Mulligan, who seems to be learning quickly, and freshman Alex Olheiser, an all-around swimmer with quite a bit of potential for growth over the next few years.?
The boys will dive into the pool next on Jan. 14 at home against North Farmington. The meet begins at 6 p.m.
