Changes are happening at the Brandon Township Public Library.
“The Friends of the Library bookstore has moved across the hall and into what was previously the teen space,” said Brandon Library Director Laura Fromwiller. “They are still offering a great selection of books, music and DVDs for all ages at amazing prices.
The funds raised from the bookstore are donated by the Friends of the Library to help support library programming, summer reading prizes, book bags and more.
“This move is allowing the library to transform the three adjoined rooms, two of which were the previous bookstore, into a teen wing,” she said. “Two rooms will hold the manga and young adult books and comfortable seating. The third room will have computers, tables and chairs, a blackboard wall and storage containing activities such as games, puzzles, art supplies and more.”
The teen area will be painted a dark teal, which was chosen as by a poll taken by Brandon High School students.
“We also polled the students, asking what they would like in the space and incorporating many of the items they requested,” said Fromwiller. “We really want teens to feel welcome and comfortable in a space that was created specifically for them and by them.”
The teen rooms are planned to be done by the time school is out for the summer.
