Orion and Independence Townships will soon enter into a joint human resources arrangement. Orion supervisor Chris Barnett initiated a conversation with Independence Township in December and found they had a HR need similar to Orion’s. Both communities are similar in demographics, size and population, Barnett indicated, and the bigger purchasing block allowed through collaboration should save money for both townships . Once contracted, the yet-to-be-named HR firm will split time between the two municipalities–approximately two days per week for Orion, and three for Independence.
