During Monday’s Village Council meeting, Lake Orion’s Downtown Development Authority requested streets close briefly on Jan. 1 for the New Year’s Resolution Run – a 5K and 2.5K run/walk that takes place every year in the downtown area.
The event starts at 10 a.m. but registration is at 9 a.m. This will be the event’s seventh consecutive year.
Streets that will be used for the run include Lapeer, Elizabeth, Broadway, Cedar Bend, Washington, Jackson, Florence and Shadbolt. Rather than close the streets, LOPD Chief Jerry Narsh suggested closing just one lane of each of these streets, letting a patrol car guide the runners.
The DDA compensated the Village for the officers? time by contributing to the Police Fund.
