Brief- New Year’s Resolution Run

During Monday’s Village Council meeting, Lake Orion’s Downtown Development Authority requested streets close briefly on Jan. 1 for the New Year’s Resolution Run – a 5K and 2.5K run/walk that takes place every year in the downtown area.
The event starts at 10 a.m. but registration is at 9 a.m. This will be the event’s seventh consecutive year.
Streets that will be used for the run include Lapeer, Elizabeth, Broadway, Cedar Bend, Washington, Jackson, Florence and Shadbolt. Rather than close the streets, LOPD Chief Jerry Narsh suggested closing just one lane of each of these streets, letting a patrol car guide the runners.
The DDA compensated the Village for the officers? time by contributing to the Police Fund.

The sixth annual New Year’s Resolution Run through the streets of the village of Lake Orion takes place at 10 a.m. on January 1, 2012. This year, there will be a 5K run and 1 mile run/walk. (They are slightly different routes.) Persons can pre-register for $25 through December 27. ($20 for run/walk event and children under 12 years-old.) Onsite, raceday registration for this year’s event costs $30 for all participants and begins at 9 a.m. For more information, contact the Downtown Development Authority at 248-693-9742, or visit
