Orion Township adopted an amendment to their contract with Detroit Water and Sewage Department. Thanks to the completion of the new Orion water storage facility, the township can reduce its peak usage from 12 million gallons per day (mgd) to 9.5 mgd. The amendment will result in an annual savings of $764,841 in 2013 and $1,073,387 in the years following.
