Lake Orion Police issued a warning last week after a string of burglaries left many business owners around town with missing cash and damaged property.
In Orion Township, deputies responded to at least four businesses that were burglarized over a four day period.
In the Village of Lake Orion, police say one attempt was made, but thieves were unsuccessful at getting inside.
But the crime wasn’t contained to the Orion area.
Police agencies in Oxford and Metamora were also investigating at least one case each.
All the crmies, police said, have occured since Nov. 2 and have similar characteristics: break-ins have been committed between midnight and 4 a.m., all have had the back, or rear door pried open and all have had cash drawer contents stolen, with other valuable items left behind.
In addition, most were lacking alarm systems and/or video surveillance systems.
According to Lake Orion Police Chief Jerry Narsh, officers in the village were doing extra patrol and out-of-car business inspections during peak crime periods.?
