Dear Editor:
The Brandon Township Board and the Ortonville Village Council have both voted to take a portion of the cable franchise fee, paid by the cable users, to be put into the general funds’I think this is totally wrong.
The comments were that the Comcast cable station ?18? did not foresee any need for equipment or anything needed to improve or update the system. If these boards would try to watch a council meeting where no microphone was available at the podium for speakers to use (like the Nov. 22 meeting) they would understand. The voice portion of the meeting was so bad that most of it was inaudible.
The station has improved some from what it was, but there is sure room for more, and the money from the franchise fee should be used for that purpose. The taxes people pay should run the government and not cable franchise fees which are to run and improve the cable station.
Thank you, Trustee Tom Stowell, as being the only one on either board to vote against it. Thanks, Tom.
