The Oxford Varsity Boys Basketball Team is on a hot streak!
Last night, the cagers beat Holly 57-52. Prior to that, the team beat Brandon 64-63 in overtime Feb. 18; Linden 49-39 and Fenton 74-63.
The team is now 6-5 in Flint Metro League play and 7-12 overall this season.
Coach Steve Laidlaw said this is the most consecutive games the team has won in five years.
He predicted the team will ‘at least finish third in the league,? which would be their best ranking in five years.
Leading Oxford scorers in the Holly game were Alan Willar with 14 points, Dave Wendt 13 points; Brandon McKay 12 points (he shot three 3-pointers); and Billy Keenist with 10 points.
Laidlaw noted Marty Ball stole the ball with about 20 seconds to go and scored two points to help seal Holly’s fate.
Against Brandon the leading scorers were Alan Willar with 18 points; Billy Keenist 15 points; Dave Wendt 14 points; and Brandon McKay with 8 points.
