Oxford’s varsity competitive cheer team took second place with 679 points against 16 other schools at the Seventh Annual Mardi Gras Mambo held at Oxford High School this past weekend.
First place was Henry Ford II High School with 694 points, while L’Anse Creuse North High School took third with 667 points and Lapeer High School took fourth with 597 points.
Other schools that competed were Lake Orion, North Branch, Almont, Anchor Bay, Capac, Clio, Holly, Imlay City, Lake Fenton, Memphis, Parkway Christian, Cabrini and Jefferson.
Oxford Head Coach Nicole Curtiss was pleased with the outcome.
‘They did their best and improved in all rounds,? she said. ‘They were up against some tough teams.?
The girls next competition will be tonight (Jan. 13) at Clarkston High School for the OAA division meet.
