Pete Scholz will continue to serve as Oxford’s fire chief for the next five years and he’s getting a raise.
Last week, the township board voted 7-0 to approve a new employment contract for Scholz, who’s led the department since 2008. The contract will take effect Jan. 1, 2016 and expire on Dec. 31, 2020.
It will begin with a 2.5 percent pay bump that will raise the chief’s annual salary to $90,256 next year. After that, his salary will increase at the same percentage as other township employees for 2017-2020.
Scholz, who’s served with the department since February 1976, will also receive five additional vacation days, for a total of 20 per year. An additional 2.5 percent of the chief’s gross salary will be contributed to his retirement.
