The slim passing known as Wompole Road off Clarkston Road will get a little bit of help from the city’s Department of Public Works.
A shoulder will be added on the east side of the road on August 8. The extension will be three feet wide and constructed with crushed limestone.
The city council addressed the problem motorists have trying to pass two cars through at the same time, which is due to the narrow roadway, at its past two meetings.
‘We’re going to lose the side of the road,? Councilwoman Kristy Ottman said.
DPW Director Bob Pursley estimated the project could be completed in one day after borrowing a backhoe from Independence Township and renting a compactor. To make room for the addition, the department will dig land on the eastern side of the road six inches deep and three feet wide.
The council resolved to adopt the project by a 6-0 vote at the Clarkston city council meeting on July 24.
