Clarkston Rotary supports literacy

For months, Clarkston Rotarians have been bringing new books to their meetings on special occasions as well as collecting gently used books from sales and friends.
On July 12, Rotarian Jeff Lichty delivered 205 books to Linda Eastman, a member of the Rochester Rotary club and program coordinator for Reach Out and Read-Michigan.
Eastman and her husband, Dr. Jay Eastman, serve on the organization’s Advisory Board. Doctors with Reach Out and Read-Michigan encourage early-literacy by offering advice, giving books to new parents, and providing fully stocked book carts in waiting rooms.
The books Clarkston Rotarians collected will be placed in pediatric offices in Oakland County.
For more information, attend a meeting ? the club meets every Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Clarkston Community Education Center, 6558 Waldon Road, for dinner and a speaker. Check www.clarkstonrotary.org.
