Classic Shelby

No ordinary Shelby’a Cobra version of the most powerful Ford Mustang ever built has arrived in Ortonville.
With a 526-horsepower supercharged engine, Joe Carrier, manager of Randy Wise Ford, 968 South Ortonville Road, said about five customers come in to the showroom each day to check out the 2010 Shelby Cobra.
‘These cars sell very quickly,? said Carrier. ‘It’s a true racing machine that’s set for the road.?
At a sticker price of about $60,000, the classic Mustang was snagged by Randy Wise Ford after the dealership was put into a lottery for a very limited number of cars.
‘Ford dealers get one Shelby to sell. That’s it. More than likely a collector will come in and purchase the car,? said Carrier. ‘Right now I had only one offer on the car’that was about $10,000 under the sticker. I did not take it.?
First introduced in 1965, about a year after the release of the Mustang, Ford attempted to toughen up the Mustang line. They asked racing engineer Carroll Shelby to remake the Mustang to compete with General Motors? Chevrolet Corvette. In 1993 Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra was launched during the Chicago Auto Show.
