Dear Editor,
While waiting for volunteers to arrive at Brandon Township Community Park on July 18, I couldn’t help but wonder if I had made a mistake by proceeding with the day’s events ? a community build for the township’s first universally-accessible boundless playground. The volunteer list wasn’t as long as I had hoped, and there was a chance of rain in the air. My apprehensions quickly faded, however, as volunteers began arriving with energy, tools, and smiles to spare. I was both pleased and honored by the community support on display. I would like to thank the following volunteers for their service: Kathy Thurman, Mike and Jeannie McCreery, David King, Scott Everett, Rick Whelpley, Tim Kniffel, Russell Kniffel, Roger Ingles, B. J. McHugh, Devin Burling, Steve Burnell, David Fleet, Bruce Wetzel, Keith Hooker, Ken Condit, Connie Frick, Alexis Frick, Kirk LeMessurier, Tom Wimble, Scott Galloway, Jim Kennedy, Connie Kennedy, Danny Kennedy, Brad Weber, Tom Guzek, Gaberal Smith, John Buchheister, and Jessica Buchheister. Many thanks to Recreation Programmer Diane Lapp for her brilliant efforts in writing the DNR Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant that made this playground possible!
Fred Waybrant,
Director Brandon Township Parks & Recreation
