Craig Greenfield triatholon to benefit Leukemia Society

The Craig Greenfield Memorial Triatholon and Duatholon is set for August 6 at 8 a.m. in downtown Clarkston.
The event has raised over $75 thousand dollars the last two years for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
Corey Greenfield (Craig Greenfield’s sister), who is the event coordinator, said they started the event in memory of her brother because he was very active.
‘He would think this event is great,? Greenfield said. ‘He would be really happy to see something like this. He was always encouraging other people to be athletic so he would think it’s great.?
Greenfield said many people train for an entire year to participate and make their goal to finish the race.
‘We have sold out every year we have done it,? Greenfield said. ‘The event is designed to promote health and fitness. People watch it and then start training. Some say they are in the best shape of their life when they complete it. One person lost 60 pounds training. It’s a great thing to see.?
The entry fee for a single person is $80, persons 55 and older is $70, a three person relay is $125 and a two person duatholon relay is $100. To register visit www.3disciplines.com
The triatholan begins at the Deer Lake Public Beach and is an 800-meter triangle. The duatholan begins with a two-mile run at Depot Park.
Both events move to the bike ride which is a 16-mile ride done on an 8-mile course twice ending at Depot Park. After the bike ride, competitors complete two laps around the downtown area, which is 4.5 miles long. The top three overall and top three in each age group receive awards.
There will be festivities following the event held at Depot Park with grilled food and a raffle.
Runners get a race t-shirt. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Michigan.
