Davisburg man graduates from local police academy

Congratulations to Trevor Sanford, of Davisburg, for graduating from the Oakland Police Academy.
Following 17 weeks of intensive training, the Oakland Police Academy of Oakland Community College graduated its 87th Basic Police Training class on Dec. 10.
Commencement ceremonies began at 8 p.m. at the Royal Oak Campus Lila Jones Johnson Auditorium. Pontiac Police Chief Rollie Gacksetter was the principal speaker.
Twenty-five of the 37 graduates were independent, or self-sponsored, students who have met State of Michigan standards for entering the field of law enforcement.
The remaining 12, including Sanford, were sponsored from police agencies throughout the greater metropolitan Detroit area. The students entered the academy as officer trainees after they were accepted for employment by their law enforcement agencies.
Sanford will work for the Oakland County Sheriff Department.
