The relative peace of Mockingbird Drive was broken at 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 9, when a woman was assaulted and threatened with a handgun.
The woman told deputies she was walking down Bluebird Drive when a green Ford Explorer, estimated to be an early 2000s model, passed her and turned around. When it approached a, Hispanic man got out of the car with a handgun and threatened her. A long-haired woman also exited the car and allegedly assaulted the woman.
The victim told police she recognized the woman who allegedly assaulted her. During the incident she managed to break free and fled the scene.
Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
‘We are taking this matter very seriously,? said Orion Township Substation Commander Dan Toth. ‘Any person that has information is urged to contact us. We are following up on leads right now with another possible witness to the assault but we do believe that this is possibly part of an ongoing dispute, so it’s not simply an act of random violence.?

A 15-year-old Orion Township teen was charged with malicious destruction of property for throwing a brick through the window of a hair salon on Sept. 29.
The teen allegedly threw the brick through a window at a Baldwin Road hair salon on what he told police was a bet from a friend.
‘He’s going to be charged with the malicious destruction of property though probate court,? said Toth. ‘If he was 17, he would have gone to jail.?
Detectives got a photo of the boy from security camera footage. From there, they went door to door trying to identify the boy. Eventually, they found someone who recognized the person in the picture and led them to the suspect.
‘The detectives did a really good job,? said Toth.
Damage to the window was estimated at $1,500.
