Deputies step in after Grinch tries to steal Christmas

Orion Township sheriff deputies helped replace a family’s Christmas presents that were stolen by a Grinch.
According to police reports, deputies were called to the 600 block of Kimberly for a report of breaking and entering of a home on December 16.
A 25-year-old woman told police that she left her home in the morning and when she returned several hours later she found someone broke in and stole a laptop computer, remote control dinosaur, a wedding ring and three wrapped Christmas presents for the her three children.
Deputies processed the crime scene for evidence, checked the area and found no other incidents of theft.
The deputies learned that the woman and her three children were experiencing financial hardships. Deputies later asked the woman to come to the Orion Township sheriff department substation where she was given a $150 gift certificate from Meijer to replace the Christmas presents.
Police are asking that anyone with info. on the crime or the location of the Grinch to contact the substation at 248 393-0090.
