A peaceful Sunday afternoon in downtown Oxford was interrupted by the unnerving sounds of multiple motor vehicles colliding and emergency sirens wailing.
When it was all over, four vehicles were damaged, but fortunately no one was reported as injured. The crash happened around 2:39 p.m. at the intersection of N. Washington (M-24) and East streets.
According to the Oxford Village Police, a 21-year-old Addison man driving a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer turned out of the northwest parking lot with the expectation of heading south on N. Washington St.
Instead, the Addison driver collided with a southbound 2003 Chevy pickup truck driven by a 57-year-old Columbiaville man.
The impact caused the Columbiaville driver to cross the center-line and crash into a northbound 2009 Lexus driven by a 48-year-old resident of Vernon Hills, Indiana.
In an attempt to avoid the head-on collision, the Vernon Hills driver swerved and struck a truck and trailer in the adjacent northbound lane. It was driven by a 39-year-old Florida man.
All the drivers and passengers refused to be transported to the hospital. The Addison driver was ticketed by village police for failing to yield the right of way. ? CJC
