Lake Orion’s boys? basketball team put on a tremendous defensive show in the first half last Tuesday against undefeated Rochester Adams but couldn’t overcome the Highlander’s big front line coupled with some good three-point shooting in the second half and lost, 56-35.
The Dragons trailed 17-13 at halftime and held the county’s top scorer, Spencer Littleson, to only six points in first half. Littleson was averaging 32 points a game.
Unfortunately, the Highlanders caught some fire in the third quarter and outscored Lake Orion 22-9. Adams? large front line, coupled with some timely three pointers, gave the smaller Dragons fits in the quarter.
Adams hit eight three pointers for the game, including two consecutive, in the third quarter to pull away.
David Gomez led Lake Orion with 18 points. Noah Harris added nine points.
Rochester is 8-0 and was ranked fourth in Oakland County. Lake Orion’s record dropped to 4-3. The Dragons were scheduled to meet Stoney Creek this week on Tuesday and will host Farmington on Friday at 7 p.m.
