Ewww, cool!

It was fiesta time at Carpenter Elementary last week as students and teachers went on a journey ‘South of the Border? into Mexico and down through Central America.
The children explored the Latin American culture of today, as well as the history of yesteryears, through a variety of activities. As a result, the main hallway at Carpenter has been transformed into a colorful, interactive Latin American walkway for all to enjoy.
On Tuesday, the children donned handmade serapes for a trip to On The Border Mexican Grill in Auburn Hills, where they enjoyed Mexican cuisine. On Thursday, the kids attended a ‘Live Animals of Central America? assembly, where they got an up-close look at animals that inhabit the countries of Central America.
Finally, just when the children thought the week couldn’t get any more exciting, each classroom was treated to a surprise pi’ata.
All in all, whether it was in the classroom, music room, gymnasium or through their intricate hands-on artwork, the children had a fun learning experience at Carpenter Elementary’s ‘South of the Border: Exploring Latin America? Intersession.
