Brandon Twp.-The seven schools that comprise the Flint Metro League share many common characteristics from student council exchanges to athletic competition to curriculum development.
However the schools don’t share an association with ‘Flint,? as their title indicates.
The name issue has at least one group of Brandon students and administrators looking seeking a new name.
‘We’ve decided to let the kids decide just what new names for the league should be considered,? said Michael Ferguson, Brandon High School principal and Flint Metro League president.
Beginning this school year student councils in each of the seven schools will be suggesting new names.
‘The geographic locations just don’t warrant the name Flint,’said Ferguson.
Fenton and Linden schools are in Genesee County the same as Flint, while Brandon, Holly and Oxford are in Oakland County. East and West Lapeer schools are in Lapeer County.
Brandon joined the Flint Metro League about three years ago from the Oakland Activities Association. A new name should be announced by November 2004 added Ferguson.
