Frosh Wolves finish season perfect

The Clarkston High School Freshmen baseball team finished their season with a perfect 17-0 mark.
‘They were really a good bunch of kids,? Clarkston coach Tim Sinischo said. ‘They were upbeat and always into the game.
Steve Vanderheyden was named team’s Most Valuable Player.
‘He has good speed, great defensive skills and quick hands. Steve hit leadoff and led the team in on base percentage,? Sinischo said.
Other key players for the Wolves included:
? Tyler Sharette (outfield) ‘Great defensive skills and covered a lot of ground in centerfield.?
? Steve McIsaac (pitcher) ‘Good velocity on fastball and developed good breaking ball.?
? Frank Davis (infield) ‘Good defensive play with not many errors. A good hitter who batted third in the line-up all year.?
? Brian Phillips (pitcher/catcher/third base) ‘All around great ballplayer with a good bat who hit cleanup all year.?
Ryan Roy was named Most Improved Player.
The Wolves knocked off Troy twice in one run ballgames.
‘But other than those games we really handled teams pretty well. As the season progressed our confidence grew,? Sinischo said. ‘If these guys continue to progress as players then someday they will be an excellent varsity team.?
