Goodrich – A 60-minute test netted Goodrich High School senior Amber Beard a $400 savings bond.
After Jim Kovas of engineering firm Wade-Trim of Flint spoke to John Doerr’s Integrated Math V class about the Trig-Star competition, students took a four-page timed exercise, solving trigonometry problems.
Of the 60 Goodrich High School students taking the test, Amber finished with the highest number of correct answers in the least amount of time.
The savings bond will be helpful in pursuing Amber’s goal of achieving a six-year degree in physical therapy at Grand Valley State University, she said.
Amber’s test results will also be compared to Trig-Star students in competitions across the state and nation. The Goodrich High School Trig-Star award is co-sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors and Wade-Trim of Flint.
