Fifth grade St. Joseph School
Junior Girl Scout Troop worked tirelessly this school year to earn their Bronze Award in scouting.
This group of young ladies include Katie Spengler, Mary Riss, Anna Traczinski, Sarah Falkowski, Lauren Gaule, Claire Thomas and Serena Bianchi.
The Girl Scout Bronze Award, the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can earn,
it requires her to learn the leadership and planning skills necessary to follow through on a project that makes a positive impact on her community.
Working towards this award demonstrates her commitment to helping others,
improving her community and the world, and becoming the best she can be.
The St. Joe’s troop, lead by Trish Spengler, started planning last September,
and defined and executed ‘Helping the Cats and Canines? in our community,
partnering with the local animal shelter. The girl’s dedication to the project included more than 15 hours of community service and at least that many more in planning.
Following is a short list of the things the girls did as part of this project.
Cats:
– Helped them get used to people
– Made cat toys
– Petted and held the cats
– Made cat houses to put in cages
– brushed the cats
– Donated blankets and newspaper
Dogs:
– Helped them get used to people
– Walked the dogs
– Played with the dogs
– Made dog treats
– Donated old tennis balls.
– Petted the dogs
