Girls lacrosse takes Clarkston, 11-2

On Wednesday April 29, both girls varsity and junior varsity teams won against their Clarkston opponents.
Junior varsity beat Clarkston High School with a score of 8-5.
Carly Brooks and Taylor Stablein each scored two goals. Danielle Leigh and Sara Giampa each scored one goal, and each had one assist.
Nicole Blovet and Marissa Secontine scored one goal each for the Dragons.
Kristen Dolecki played her first game as goalie and blocked five of Clarkston’s shots.
The varsity girls also won against Clarkston with a 11-2 victory.
Goalie Lindsay Butterfield made 16 saves throughout the game. Samantha Bonkowski scored three times.
‘It feels really good to score a goal. In a way, I feel like it’s a bit of team bonding because we’re trusting each other to get the ball in the other net,? Bonkowski said.
Josie Parker scored twice. Ronnie Booth, Sarah Woodruff, Val Kipp, and Becky Seeds each scored one goal.
Sarah Cech and Paige Hammerl each had one goal and an assist. Maggie Hughes and Sam Noe had one assist each.
On Friday May 1, the varsity and junior varsity teams played against Rochester High School.
Junior varsity took home a 15-7 win for the Dragons.
The varsity Lady Dragons played a close game against Rochester but ultimately lost 8-7.
Junior varsity’s win brought them to seven straight games won so far this season.
Monica Arpino and Andie Roll scored their first goals of the season in this game.
Marissa Secontine scored three goals. Carly Brooks, Natalie Fiorani, and Taylor Stablein each scored twice.
With the conclusion of this game, the varsity Dragons were 4 and 6. Jodie Parker scored twice.
Ronnie Booth, Sam Bonkowski, Becky Seeds, and Paige Hammerl each scored once. Sarah Woodruff scored one goal and had one assist.
Goalie Lindsay Butterfield saved nine of Rochester’s shots in the net.
At halftime, the game was tied 5-5.
After halftime, the game turned into a defense struggle led by Val Kipp, Natalie Pierson, Maggie Hughes and Jessica Burkes.
But with 11 minutes remaining in the game, Rochester scored the winning goal.
The Lady Dragon’s next game is on Wednesday at Bloomfield High School, starting at 5:30pm for the junior varsity girls and 7:00 for varsity.
