The boys varsity golf team headed to the Pontiac Municipal Golf Course last Monday to participate with 24 other teams in the Division I Oakland County golf tournament.
Oxford faired very well, placing eighth in standings.
Senior Domonic Crosson continued with his steady play for the Wildcats and shot a 75, and sophomore Tony Frias had a good round as well and shot a 79.
On Wednesday, Oxford was on the road again and this time the Cats were up against league foe Brandon. Oxford lost the match 151-172.
It was Crosson at the top again for the Wildcats shooting a 38, and senior Josh Tindall had a 43.
Last Friday, Oxford hosted the Holly Bronchos for their third outing of the week.
Oxford head coach Terry Kelley was very optimistic of his squad’s chances of ousting their opponent on our home course, but surprisingly, the Wildcats shot out of their comfort zone and were unable to defeat the Bronchos who edged out Oxford 163-173.
Low scorers for the Wildcats were sophomore Ryan Collier (39) and Crosson (41).
‘Our sophomores are just learning what they are capable of,? said Kelley, ‘But we need to strive to find the middle of the road and stay there.?
The loss dropped Oxford to 1-4 in the Flint Metro League.
