Goodrich Robotics,’More Martians? win again

The Goodrich Robotics team continued its winning ways, as reigning Champions from the 2009 Kettering District Competition. The 2010 Kettering Event earned the More Martians team bragging rights for the second year in a row.
The winning three-team alliance included: Team 70, More Martians from Goodrich; Team 67, Heroes of Tomorrow (HOT) from Milford; and Team 910, Foley’s Freeze of Madison Heights.
The Team 70 robot operators included Paul Johnson, Ian McKinzie, Nicholas Norman, and Kevin Stephens.
The March 5 and 6 event was the culmination of an intensive six-week period they had to construct the winning robot. They competed against 37 teams from across the state in a soccer style game where robots scored points in soccer goals, and earned bonus points for having their robots lift themselves off the ground onto towers at the end of the match.
The More Martians team is now qualified to go to the State Championship Competition April 2 and 3, and the World Championship April 14 -17 in Atlanta, where they will compete against 350 teams from around the world.
The other GHS robotics Team 494, The Martians, also had a strong showing, making it into the semi-finals.
