Brandon Township ‘A house fire on Granger Road, in Brandon Township, was discovered by a neighbor who was leaving for work at 3:30 a.m., Monday, March 22.
When Brandon deputies arrived they could see smoke and flames coming out from under the front door and could see that all the windows of the home were covered in smoke.
Deputies knocked at the door in case anyone was in the structure, however discovered there were no vehicles in the garage or the driveway.
Later a neighbor informed officers that the previous owner died a month ago and the house was being cared for by the man’s two sons.
The fire department arrived and had the fire under control within 20 minutes, but was on scene for more than three hours.
Police reports state that the fire, which had been burning from inside the home for quite awhile, started at the furnace in the basement.
The contents of the unoccupied home were completely lost, and more than half of the internal structure was lost causing more than $150,000 worth of damage to the contents and structure.
No one was hurt and no mutual aid was required. ‘Teri Stiles
