Groveland Twp.- The Holly Village council voted 6-0 Tuesday night approving a three year contract with the township for 24 hour Advanced Life Support ambulance services.
‘It’s great to have this critical service,? said Holly Village Manager Aaron Oppenheimer. ‘For the past two years we’ve been between Northern Oakland County Fire Authority and Groveland Township for ambulance services.?
The ambulance contract will cost the village $50,000 per year for coverage from the township. The cost will increase at a rate of 3 percent each year for the duration of the contract. In addition the village has purchased a $50,000 ambulance to be maintained by the township. Finally the township will charge the village about $600 per run. The ALS ambulance will be stationed at the Groveland Township Fire Station one near the intersection of Dixie Highway and Grange Hall Road.
‘It’s a good arrangement for us,? said Oppenheimer. ‘It solves a host of problems, Groveland Township has done an excellent job in meeting our needs.?
Oppenheimer added that funding will come from the village general fund. Each month 21 ambulance calls are anticipated for the Village of Holly with a population of about a month 6, 200 residents.
Bob DePalma, township supervisor said some additional medical personnel is necessary to cover the extra calls.
