‘Heat Stays On? in Ortonville

Ortonville- Brandon firefighters and Village Pub customers and staff played in the snow Feb. 7 and raised nearly $1,500 to benefit ‘The Heat Stays On.?
The annual softball fundraiser is played at the Sherman Village Park, with participants using the traditional bats, but trading softballs for soccer balls so no mitts are necessary.
‘It’s hilarious to watch,? said Pub Owner Amy Guirey.
A chili cook-off on Super Bowl Sunday at the Pub, located at 411 Mill St., also netted about $150 for the charity, which was created by Guirey and Perry Rouse, and Al and Sue Bess to benefit residents of the village and Brandon Township who are having trouble paying their heating bills. Judy Henley of the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund administers the funds.
The next Heat Stays On event will be a bowling tournament in March to which the public is invited. A date has not been set. For more information, call 248-627-2333.
